‘Frantic’ stabbing was girl’s ‘dark fantasies’ turned into reality, court told

A girl denied realizing “dark fantasies” of torture and murder with the “frenzied” stabbing of transgender teenager Brianna Ghey, a court heard.

The 16-year-old, identified only as Girl

He denied having to wipe Brianna’s blood off his face after the murder.

Brianna, 16, was stabbed with a hunting knife 28 times in the head, neck, chest and back in Linear Park in Culcheth, near Warrington, on the afternoon of February 11 this year.

Prosecutors allege the anxious transgender teen was deliberately lured there for a planned murder by Girl X and her co-defendant, identified only as Boy Y.

Both Girl X and Boy Y, both 15 at the time (now both 16), deny the murder and blame each other for Brianna’s death. Neither can be named due to their age.

Jurors have heard that Girl and death.

On the witness stand for the second day, Richard Littler KC, defending child Y, asked girl X: “Why would you have a fantasy of murdering your good friend?”

She replied: “I’m not sure. “I don’t know where it comes from.”

Mr Littler continued: “I’m going to suggest that this was no longer a fantasy, it was something that could be done. Could you stab Brianna?

“No,” she replied.

Girl

Littler suggested this was to keep Brianna in the park, adding: “Could it be that you were just trying to prepare to stab her, trying to find the courage to do it?”

“No,” replied Girl X.

Boy Y told police he went to relieve himself behind a tree and when he returned he saw Girl X stabbing Brianna.

Mr Littler said: “You’re basically saying the same thing as him now.”

Girl X has denied trying to control or manipulate Boy Y.

Jurors learned of a notebook found in Girl who only had three followers on Instagram.

Mr. Littler continued, “I’m going to suggest to you that you pretended to be Brianna’s friend. But you weren’t really her friend at all.

“No,” replied Girl X.

“Am I going to suggest that you stabbed Brianna?” said Mr. Littler.

“No,” replied Girl X.

“Do you remember when you were walking away from the scene with Boy Y, you wiped the blood off your face? Brianna’s blood, using your saliva? Mr. Littler asked.

“No,” Girl X responded again.

Previously, jurors were shown a crumpled handwritten note of an alleged “murder plan” to kill Brianna found on the floor of Girl X’s bedroom after her arrest.

Notes were also taken on serial killers, including Jeffrey Dahmer, Richard Ramirez and Harold Shipman, in a black notebook.

Under questioning by Deanna Heer KC, prosecutor, Girl X was asked what she liked about the idea of killing.

She said: “I’m not exactly sure, I guess I found the whole thing in general quite interesting.”

Mrs. Heer said, “Did you like the idea of having power over someone?”

Girl

Ms Heer said: “Did you like the idea of being able to cause them pain and suffering?”

Girl

He said he found Brianna “really interesting” and “quite attractive” and agreed that he enjoyed the idea of killing her.

When asked why, he said, “I just have random thoughts, even if there was no intention. I don’t know where it comes from or why I get them.”

He added: “Usually it’s with people I don’t like, but not always, sometimes it can be with people I really like and I still fantasize about it.”

Ms Heer asked: “Did you find the idea of killing Brianna, who you were attracted to, exciting?”

Girl

Mrs. Heer asked, “Did you think she was prettier than you?”

Girl

Ms. Heer asked if she thought Boy Y would also like the idea of killing Brianna because he didn’t like transgender people.

Girl

They asked her about the messages in which she and Boy Y talked about killing Brianna by giving her cleaning products to drink.

Mrs Heer asked: “Did you think it would be a horrible death?”

Girl

Mrs. Heer said, “Did you like the idea?”

Girl

Mrs. Heer continued: “She found serial killers interesting. Would you look at data on serial killers because you were trying to figure out how they killed people?

Girl

Mrs Heer said: “What did you think of that idea of distracting someone and then stabbing them in the neck? Is that what you and the Y guy finally do to Brianna? You distracted her and the boy AND he stabbed her in the neck?

“No,” replied Girl X.

Ms Heer said: “Is it true that at that time the conversations were no longer fantasies, but were actually talking about how to plan a murder in real life?”

“No,” said Girl X.

Ms Heer compared the similarities to the stabbing of Brianna and the “fantasy” plans about killing her and other children, discussed between X and Y in telephone messages; luring a victim to a “hidden place,” distraction, the method of stabbing, and inflicting wounds.

Mrs. Heer continued: “All the things you need to think about if you are planning a real murder?”

“Yes,” replied Girl X.

Ms Heer said: “Did you want Boy Y to kill Brianna while you watched? Did you want him to dominate Brianna? Did you want him to kill her?

Girl

She denied taking a knife to meet Brianna.

Ms Heer said: “Is that because you wanted Boy Y to stab Brianna and you wanted to watch so you could see the pure horror on his face?”

“No,” replied Girl X.

Mrs. Heer said, “Did you think of boy Y as your murderer?”

“No,” replied Girl X.

He admitted that he made Brianna come to the park by lying to her that they would do drugs and get high.

Mrs. Heer continued: “Do you think that if you hadn’t lied, Brianna, she would still be alive today?”

“Yes,” replied Girl X.

The trial continues.
